Exemplary leadership shows more engaged people in workplace
by these five practices
Shape the method: One will define his values and principles
first to become a leader. A leader needs to shape the highest level of
integrity and professionalism for team members. Setting an example is the most
powerful act a leader can do.
Motivate a dream: Keeping the goal in mind and reminding
people about painting picture for better future. Visualize career and dream for
a long term. It's about creating our future. A few simple yet powerful actions
leaders can take to thank and inspire others are daily actions and practices.
These activities include thanking each member daily once for contributing in
the performance and daily asking himself about the demonstration of the values that
a leader hold.
Confront the course: It
is undergoing the biggest difficulty to become a successful leader. It is about
How you overcome the uncertainty and fear to achieve your best performance. Confront
the course does not suggest challenge the existing values or standards. It is
about searching and practicing new and improved methods of doing things in
order to achieve continual growth. In my previous organization, I used to ask
people if they think they are going to meet their goals for the coming years by
carrying on to do their work the way they are doing it currently. The answer
was no, Without exception. Organizations need more leaders due to this reason.
Facilitate others to perform: Building a spirited team, actively
involving others, creating an environment of mutual trust and respect. The level
of trust of a leader is determined by his influence and how he is accepted by
his team. As leaders, one must always enable members to Act. The key to success
is not found in honoring own ego and individual achievements. It is, however,
in crafting confidence within the members on whom leaders are depending on for
best results.
Support the spirit: Team members want to know how their
leaders value them. What a leader is thinking about their job and also if he is
not taking them granted. The best leaders want to be liked, and they need
openness from other members. They are not just about demonstrating members they
can win for the sake of making them feel good. For motivating people to higher
criteria of performance, nothing works as powerfully as the recognition of
individual attempt and achievement.
